Euro 2008 Stadium in Klagenfurt, Austria

The Hypo-Arena is the most modern football arena that will be used to host the Euro 2008. In fact, it was opened on the 7th September 2007. It is found in the south-west end of the city of Klagenfurt in Austria. The stadium is the new home of new club SK Austria Kaernten (formerly Pasching) in the Austrian Bundesliga. The Wortherseestadion, a 10900 seats stadium, was demolished in 2005, and work started on this new Hypo-Arena, for it to be ready to host Euro 2008. Construction cost amounted to around 66.5 million Euros. The new Worthersee/Hypo-Arena is similar to the St Jakob-Park in the city of Basel, Switzerland.

The new stadium has a 30,000 capacity, with all seats being covered from weather elements. It is very probable that after the European Championships of 2008, the capacity of the stadium will be reduced to around 12,000 to make it less expensive to run and more realistic for the size of Austrian club FC Kaernten. The Hypo-Arena includes also health and leisure amenities, and restaurants. It has been chosen to host three matches from Group B being:
