Poland's European Championships Record
Playing in white home shirts and red away shirts, the Polish national team is currently managed by the Dutchman Leo Beenhakker, they currently (February 2008) sit in 23rd place in the FIFA rankings, the team is very well respected with some of Poland's players playing for big foreign teams, the most notable being Tomasz Kuszczak playing for Manchester United, Lukasz Fabianski playing for Arsenal, Kazmierczak playing for Porto, and Artur Boruc playing for Celtic.
Poland has appeared in the FIFA World Cup a total of seven times, on two of these occasions, the team managed to finish third, in the 1974 and 1982 events. However, when it comes to European Championships, Poland are still newcomers, in fact, the 2008 tournament will be Poland's first ever European Championship. This motivates the squad to prove to Europe that their team is capable of achieving something in the Championships, Poland will be appearing for the first of two European Championships in a row, having already been chosen to host the 2012 European Championships in a joint bid with Ukraine.
